11:00 am – 1:00 pm
World Honey Bee Day Scavenger Hunt
Attention all nature and bee lovers!
Celebrate National Honey Bee Day with a sweet, hands-on experience at 2ND & PCH! The coastal lifestyle center is home to its very own working honey beehives. Producing 10 to 20 pounds of rich, hyper-local honey each year, these busy bees capture the unique floral flavor profile of the Long Beach coast! On Saturday, August 15th, families and community members are invited to join in the buzz with a lineup of eco-friendly activities, prizes and exclusive giveaways.
Event Highlights:
-
- Pollinator Scavenger Hunt: From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, children can explore the center to uncover bee-inspired fun facts hidden among storefronts. Every participant who completes the hunt scores a special prize, plus an entry into a drawing to win one of six exclusive gift cards.
- Exclusive Honey Giveaway: A limited supply of honey produced from the center’s on-site hives will be gifted to participants (one per household) who complete the scavenger hunt (while supplies last).
- Arts & Crafts and a “BEE-FF” (Friendship) Bracelet making station: Bring your friends and family and make bracelets together.
- Beekeeper Meet & Greet from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm: Chat directly with a professional beekeeper from The Best Bees Company. Learn all about pollinator conservation, biodiversity and how these incredible insects help our ecosystem flourish.
Through our ongoing partnership with The Best Bees Company, a national leader in pollinator research, 2ND & PCH safely hosts two discreet beehives away from foot traffic to protect both guests and pollinators. This initiative supports critical research on urban biodiversity while offering visitors a sweet, direct connection to nature. It’s all part of 2ND & PCH’s commitment to environmental stewardship, alongside solar energy initiatives, recycling programs and community-centered programming.
